In an exchange of letters with Duke Heinrich of Württemberg in 1833, there are a few hints about the taste of the first KESSLER ‘champagnes.‘ On August 4, 1833, the Duke wrote: ‘I have now tested the three classes of your wine - and the one with the tag labelled by the year 1830 was in my opinion the best. This wine is pleasant, not too strong and less sweet - pure characteristics that match my taste.‘
