In the presence of King Wilhelm II of Württemberg at the Cannstatter Wasen on October 27, 1912, twenty hot-air balloons were launched at the 7th Gordon Bennet Cup. KESSLER supplied the crew with picnic baskets that also contained an ‘Extra Cuvée’. The balloons rose in the bright autumn sky and were blown by the wind towards the north east. After a flight of nearly four days and nights, the winning French team of Maurice Bienaimé and René Rumpelmayer landed around 1,300 miles away in a snowstorm at Rjäsan, south of Moscow.
