During the pre-war years, the entire Sekt industry was very prosperous. In Esslingen, the revenues were invested in modern machinery and new locations for staff. The canteen in the former tanners’ guild hall (Rathausplatz 15) is still today regarded as a great achievement in restoration. The 14th century beamed ceiling was carefully restored, as was the lounge which was decorated with frescoes painted by Heinrich Barth, an artist from Sonthofen.
